Lyric Analisis

I once heard this song thatw as made in 1982 called "The heat of the moment". So I looked more into it and found out it was made by Asia (the band). Once I listened to it a couple times more, I heard the lyrics clearly and can make some connections.

Like there is a part that says "Disco hotspots have no charm for you anymore" And that reminded me of a time in elementary school, When I had joined a club and I was in it for a while then I stopped haging out with the people that were in the club and played with my other friends that weren't in the club for about a week. Then when I went back to hangout with the club again no one that was in the club liked me becasue they thought I quit the club. Also, there is a line of lyrics that say "One thing I said I would never do" Which reminded me of something I do a lot which is if someone makes me mad I usually say "I'm gonna kill you" or "your dead" but usually I don't do anything. And finally there is a line that says "How many nights you sit alone by the phone" which reminded me of a time when I was supposted to sleep over at a friends house but he was supposted to call me to say it was okay for me to comeover. So I wated by the phone for 3 hours waiting for him to call so I called him and he said I couldn't come over. And that was how I made connections with my life.

There is a sentance of lyrics that say "when your looks are gone and you're alone" it reminded me of a part in the novel SMALL STEPS when Theodore and Kiara are mad at each other because Theodores "looks" is like Kiara, because when people see Kiara with him they think he is special but without her hes just some person.

In the song "Heat of the moment" it actually tells when it was made. Which was 1982 becasue in the song it says "And how you found yourself in 82". That and research on the internet is how I found out. And I was glad when I found out what the lyrics after research.

I've gained deeper understanding of a song when I hear it now because I will pay more attention and really listen to the lyrics and try to figure out what they mean. Like when I hear a song on the radio I will really look and listen to the lyrics and try to analyze the words and actually think about the words and try to see if they are trying to point something out or if they are just singing a song about anything not that important. It is very important to know what songs mean and say.
